3KELVES GETS PLAYLISTED THANKS TO GROOVER

Originally born in South Korea, now located in San Francisco, 3kelves tries to capture the feeling of nightlife into his music. After playing lots of DJ gigs in SF opening for acts like Kaytranada, Disclosure, SG Lewis, Chromeo, Purple Disco Machine, TheBlaze and Washed Out, he is now hoping to create more songs that he would love to see played out throughout the world. He has released with Kitsune Musique, Nervous Records, Tensnake’s True Romance, and many world-wide record labels. He has also toured Europe (Germany, Paris, London,Netherlands), Los Angeles, and South Korea.

We had the pleasure to talk about his career and his use of Groover, for the promotion of his new music project.

« Groover helped me gain more exposure into other methods of promoting my music and exploring playlist placement for my future singles! » – 3kelves

Can you tell us a bit about your background and your music project? How did you start and what made you take it seriously?

I’ve always been interested in indie and electronic music my entire life, but never felt that I was good enough to create the music that I love. During the pandemic, Disclosure started streaming on Twitch and revealed exactly how they made their songs from very beginning to the very end. That made me realize I have all the tools that I needed, I just needed to create. So I found a great community of musicians on Discord worldwide (Indonesia, UK, Germany, Netherlands, etc). When I found a great music studio in San Francisco, I quit my tech job and started to make music every day!

What inspires you and makes you want to create? Do you have any routines before you start working on music?

Although I listen to the newest Spotify playlists to discover new music, I found that my friends and my community have been making truly inspiring materials. Also through collaborations, I’ve been learning new tricks and new ways of creating music. Routines-wise, I try to read some poetry books before writing lyrics for inspiration.

How would you describe your music? In your opinion, what’s the best way for someone to experience it?

I’ve had two sides of the 3kelves project. One side is the fun club disco house music that should be blasted in clubs, gyms, weddings etc. Other side is my indie pop project, which would be more fit for casual listening and cool cafes.

How did you find out about Groover and what made you decide to use the platform?

I found Groover from the Noise Pop contest, but have been diving more into what Groover can bring to my music projects, and I’ve been loving it!

How has it helped you? What opportunities have you gotten through Groover?

It helped me gain more exposure into other methods of promoting my music and exploring playlist placement for my future singles!
